Our client a leading national retailer is searching for a Merchandise Executive to head up the Apparel The successful candidate will be required to develop and implement product strategy relative company strategy and to ensure that the ranges purchased reflect the latest global retail
trends You will be required to direct a team of buyers to ensure that targets and company strategic goals are achieved

Key Performance Areas
Develop direct and implement plans and projects to improve and expand the strategic market position and to achieve growth and financial profitability of the apparel and nonapparel portfolio
Develop and manage product strategy in line with company strategy and goals to optimally increase product take up and increase bottom line
Oversee the selection development and buying/ sourcing of apparel and nonapparel portfolio
Establish the buying and external supplier strategy including price negotiation and product pricing
Manage the profitability of the apparel and nonapparel portfolio
Develop and present merchandise and brand strategies as well as performance reports to the Executive Management/ Board
Involvement in the launching of new stores
Manage a diverse and dynamic team of buyers
Traveling to trade fairs and other overseas destinations to execute strategic objectives
Forecasting and planning
Working with marketing strategy relative to seasonal demand per product
Maximise product and staff performance as per agreed key deliverables and company strategy
Train and develop staff and implement strategies and initiatives to motivate and inspire teams
Market research and market segmentation per customer requirements
Manage sales performance per product

Requirements
Matric
Tertiary Qualification in Business Management/ Commerce/ Accounting
8 to 10 years direct and relevant experience
Must have managed large teams including buyers and/or merchandisers
